I’ve never heard of Journal Therapy before. What is Journal Therapy?
Simply put, Journal Therapy uses writing as a tool for self-exploration, personal development, well-being, and self-knowledge. Journaling, writing, keeping a diary, and/or commonplace book has been wielded as a tool for personal, spiritual, emotional, and mental exploration of one’s self for thousands of years.
As your coach, I accompany and guide you through the process of exploration and transformative writing. I use a variety of methods, activities, and writing prompts that support my client’s intentions and motivations in Journal therapy.
Interesting, but I haven’t heard much about Journal Therapy. What are some of the benefits of Journal Therapy?
In a meta-analysis covering 146 published studies, researchers found that expressive writing had the following beneficial effects:
Reducing levels of stress and anxiety
Improved emotional regulation
Decrease in self-critical and judgemental rumination
Improvement in mood and self-esteem
Better cognitive performance
Strengthen the immune system, faster healing times, and more!
Wow, I never knew that! What does a Journal Therapy session with you look like?
A Journal Therapy session is tailored to you and your goals, however, the general layout of each session follows a similar schedule. The first session is based on getting to know one another and setting your intentions for the next four weeks together. We will explore your motivations for journal therapy and ensure you are set up for success.
